The Mariners sweep the Red Sox

The 3-game series between the Seattle Mariners and the Boston Red Sox has had a little of everything. There have been plenty of errors, walks, batters being hit by pitches and a 9th inning rally. In todays final that bizarre behavior has continued as the usually unshakable Hisashi Iwakuma was not able to pitch his way out of the third inning.
In the top of the 1st the Seattle Mariners scored three runs on five hits. It would seem that with Iwakuma pitching a win was assured. The bottom of the inning started out looking as though it would be smooth sailing when Iwakuma was able to get two quick outs after giving up a leadoff single. It was not going to be that easy though as the next batter singled to bring in a run. Then two hit batters and another single had us tied at 3 by the time the inning was over. Game tied at 3.
It looked as though the rest of the game would go better when the Red Sox pitcher Allen Webster was able to get the batters out in order. Hisashi Iwakuma came in and was able to match him by getting the batters out in order.
The 3rd inning started out looking good also as Mr. Webster again was able to get the batters out in order. The bottom of the inning showed that there was still more bizarre behavior to come. Robinson Cano had to come out of the game because of dizziness. He was replace by Brad Miller. Hisashi Iwakuma was then knocked out of the game when he gave up two more runs on 4 hits and a walk. Dominic Leone comes in to pitch and gets the next 3 batters out to end the 3rd inning. 5-3 Red Sox.
The top of the 4th inning saw the Mariners get one of those runs back with a walk, a ground-rule double and a sacrifice fly. The bottom of the inning went quick as Leone only gave up a walk.5-4 Red Sox.
The top of the 5th inning saw the Mariners get 2 runs to take the lead. Allen Webster left and Breslow came into to get the next two batters to end the top of the inning. In the bottom of the 5th Dominic Leone once again only gave up a walk. 7-5 Mariners.
In the top of the 6th Heath Humbree came in to take over the pitching for the Red Sox. He was able to get the Mariner batters out in order despite a walk, a single and a stole base. The bottom of the inning saw Joe Beimel come in as the new pitcher for the Mariners. He was able to get two quick outs before giving up a single to David Ortiz. Ortiz left the game when his hamstring tightened up from a foul ball hitting him in the shin. Dominic Leone is then replaced by Danny Farquhar. Cespedes then hits a single before Mr. Farquha finally gets Mike Napoli to strike out to end the 6th.
The 7th inning starts out with a walk to Austin Jackson. T. Layne comes in to take over the pitching for the Red Sox. A double play and a fly ball quickly end a Mariner and ends the top of the inning. Danny Farquhar makes quick work of the bottom of the inning despite giving up a double and a single.
The top of the 8th inning saw the Mariners score another run to chase Mr. Layne out of the inning. J Tazawa came in to take over the pitching and quickly gets the next two batters to end the top of the inning. The bottom of the inning saw Charlie Furbush take over as the pitcher for the Mariners. He gave up a run before being replacd by Tom Wilhelmsen. Wilhelmsen then gets the next two batters to end the 8th inning. 7-6 Mariners.

The 9th start with Edward Mujica taking over as the pitcher for the Red Sox. Brad Miller gave the Mariners a insurance run with a double to bring Dustin Ackley home. In the bottom of the 9th Fernando Rodney comes in to save the game. The bottom of the inning started out good when Rodney struck out the first batter. The rest of the inning was not to go so easy as the Red Sox batters loaded the bases. Fernando Rodney was able to get out the inning without giving up a run on his way to pick up save 39 of the season.
