Dynamite Entertainment announces their upcoming "Grumpy Cat" comic

Since the Fall of 2012 we just haven't been able to get enough of Tader Sauce aka “Grumpy Cat”. We fill up our Facebook feeds with her Internet memes, buy her t-shirts and other products and share her videos. Maybe it is that permanent scowl or that her memes say many of the things we would like to say. Whichever the reason we had a lovefest with the little dwarf cat. We fill up our Facebook feeds with her Internet memes, buy her t-shirts and other products and share her videos.
Soon we will have one more way to get our fix of the lovable curmudgeon. This Fall Dynamite Entertainment will begin running both a comic strip and cookbook of “Grumpy Cat” and her older brother Pokey. The comic that will be called “The misadventures of Grumpy Cat and Pokey” will be available as an online comic, a comicbook to be sold in specialty markets and as a graphic novel that will be sold at several bookstores.
"One of the most important responsibilities for today's comic publishers is creating content that will attract fresh new audiences to experience the wonders of the medium, and Grumpy Cat is the perfect combination of unbearable cuteness, instant fan appeal, and established multimedia presence to make just such a thing happen," Keith Davidsen, marketing manager of Dynamite Entertainment, said in a statement.
Outside of her Internet fame “Grumpy Cat” has become a television and movie diva. She has made appearances on Today, Good Morning America, the CBS Evening news, VH1's Big Morning Buzz, Anderson live, American Idol, the Bachelorette, The Soup and WWE's Monday Night Raw. She also made a Honeynut Cheerios commercial where the animated bee tries to talk her into liking the cereal.

5 things you didn't know about Angie Martinez

For nearly 3 decades Angie Martinez has been a radio talk show host, actress and hip-hop artist. Among the celebrates she has interviewed are such icons as Tupac, Kanye West and Mariah Carey. Her acting career has seen her star with Rosie Perez, Queen Latifah and Lucie Arnaz.
Outside of all the fame there is much about Ms. Martinez’s life. The following are just 5 of those facts:
In late 2014 Ms. Martinez joined forces with Chef Angelo Sosa to write “Healthy Latin Eating: our family recipes remixed”. The cookbook was released in January of this year and features traditional Latin cuisine and gives it a healthy twist. For Ms. Martinez it was a labor of love and Chef Sosa uses his impressive culinary knowledge to give substitutions to reduce the fat and carbohydrates while still giving us those rich flavors we all love about Latin food.
Ms. Martinez ran the 2014 New York marathon where she raise over $40,000 for C.C. Sabathia's pitCCh in foundation. The charity helps inner city youths by providing baseball clinics, giving school supplies with their backpack program and act as a secret Santa.
In 2002 Ms. Martinez was called on to be a judge on the talent show “American Idol”. She thought that it was cruel to be expected to crush the dreams of the contestants. So, she left after just two episodes of the audition phase of the show.
Some girl burst into tears when Angie rejected her at the auditions, and Angie quit,” Martinez’s manager explained. “She just couldn’t crush the contestants’ dreams.”
When Ms. Martinez was in her early teens he mother, Shirley Maldonado, worked as a program director and would often take Angie to work with her. Angie would pay attention and learn the day-to-day operations. A couple of years later, at age 16, when her mom would send her to Miami to stay with relatives she took what she learned and interned at a radio station.

The 1980's were a rough time for both Angie Martinez and her mother. When Angie was only 10 her father left the family. In an interview with the Houston Chronicle Ms. Martinez looked back on those years and commented, I think that has made a lot of aspects of my life a little more difficult than they needed to be, but I’m doing all right.”

The Mariners put on a homerun derby for their 4th win in a row

Last night the Seattle Mariners kicked off a 2-game inter-league series against the San Diego Padres. They welcomed the Padres be given them one of the most impressive offensive displays to be seen in Safeco Field history. By the end 6 baseballs had left the field of play as Nelson Cruz, Logan Morrison, Kyle Seager, Mike Zunino and Justin Ruggiano flexed their muscles.
Just as they have for most of the season the starting pitcher struggled in the game. This time it was James Paxton that had a rough time as he was in several jams throughout his time in the game. He did manage to get through 6 inning while giving up 3 runs. Luckily for him the Mariners had scored 7 runs by then so that Mr. Paxton had the lead and was eligible to get the win.
The bullpen has had their struggles at times this season but last not was not one of those times. They kept the Padres to just the 3 runs as the Mariners tacked on 4 more runs to beat the Padres 11-4. The win was the Mariners the 4th in a row.

In the middle of the 4-game win streak Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez hit another milestone in his stellar career. He showed why he is called “the king” as he became the 4th youngest pitcher to reach 2,000 strikeouts.

Mom uses cell phone to find cancer in son

In today's mobile society a cellular phone has become a necessity. We use them to stay in touch with friends & family, connecting to social networks, taking pictures & videos and much more on our daily commutes. As one Illinois mom can attest we can add diagnosing cancer to the reasons we need our cellular phones.
I did not want to take the picture because I had this dreaded feeling in the pit of my stomach,” Julie Fitzgerald told CNN. “I took the picture, and boom: His whole pupil was just white— and that’s when I knew.”
In the picture one her son's pupils showed up as white showing some forming of anomaly. Once they saw the result her and her husband took their son, Avery, to the doctor. The doctor confirmed their worst nightmare when he told them that indeed Avery had a rare eye cancer called retinoblastoma. The cancer had grown to the point there were tumors in 75% of his eye. The only option was to have the eye removed before the cancer spread to his brain.
"He took one look and said there are multiple, multiple tumors," Julie says.
Having no other choice the parents opted to have the surgery that take one of their son's eyes. Once he is fully recovered he will have a prosthetic eye put in his now empty socket.
Patrick Fitzgerald offered some simple advice for other fathers regarding their children’s health: “Trust your gut,” he told CNN. “Trust a momma’s gut … and don’t wait. Don’t wait to see if it improves.”
The doctors still have more test to run on Avery to find out if he is at risk of the cancer re-assert itself.
Mrs. Fitzgerald is not the first mother to use her cellular phone as a diagnostic tool. A woman in Arizona discovered a similar anomaly when she took a picture of her infant. The diagnosis in that case was also retinoblastoma.

5 things you didn't know about Yanni

In the late 1980's a self taught musician from Greece burst onto the scene to become one of the world most recognizable pianist/composers. His career since that start has included being the composer on over a dozen movies and television shows, several soundtrack, albums and even being an executive producer. Beyond the music there are several things that most people don't know about the man. The following are just five of those little known facts.
In the 1960's as a youth Yanni was a member of the Greece National swim team. At one of the meets in 1969 he set a new National record for the 50-meter freestyle. He was 14 years-old at the time of the record breaking performance.
In 1972 at the age of 18, Yanni left his home in Kalamata, Greece to come to America. Once in the United States he enrolled at the University of Minnesota to study psychology. Instead when he would get home he would try to recreate the music on the piano working for hours to get it just right. Before long he was able to master the instrument.
When Yanni was just a few years into his solo career in 1989 he meet Linda Evans. The two started a whirlwind romance that would last for almost a decade. The romance fizzled out in 1998 when Yanni's career sky rocketed and Linda Evans went into semi-retirement.
Until recently Yanni has kept it a secret that he had a daughter that was born in the early 1980's. The reason or keeping her a secret was that he wanted keep his little girl out of the spotlight. She was able to live out of the limelight where she grew up and went to her dad's alma mater. Once she graduated she went to work for her dad's marketing company. She still works there running all of the company's social media marketing campaigns.
