The Oakland Athletics tie up the series

Hoping to stretch their winning streak to three games the Seattle Mariners put their hopes in rookie pitcher Brandon Maurer. Mr. Maurer has shown some promise for being a dominating pitcher but at other times he has had the type of out that reminds us he is a young rookie. The Oakland Athletics counter by sending Jarrod Parker to the mound.

The 1^st inning starts as ex-Mariner John Jasso steps up to the plate and he strikes out. Seth Smith is up next and he strike out. Jed Lowrie comes up to the plate and hits a double. Yoenis Cespedes is next and he flies out to end the top of the inning. Michael Saunders leadsoff for the Mariners and he grounds out. Kyle Seager steps up to the plate and works his way on with a walk. Kendrys Morales walks into the batter's box and grounds into a double play to end the inning.

Brandon Moss starts the 2^nd for the Athletics as he strikes out. Josh Donaldson is up next and hits a home run to give the Athletics an early lead. Daric Barton is next and flies out. Derek Norris steps up next where he walks to first. Eric Sogard comes to the plate and walks on four straight pitches. With two on and two out John Jasso hits a ground ball to end the top of the inning. Michael Morse is up first for the Mariners and strikes out. Justin Smoak is up next and strikes out. Raul Ibanez steps up next and flies out to end the 2^nd.

Seth Smith starts the 3^rd by hitting a ground ball for out number one. Jed Lowrie is up next and gets a single. Yoenis Cespedes steps up to the plate and hits into double play to end the top of the inning. Dustin Ackly leadsoff the bottom of the inning and he strikes out. Kelly Shoppach is nextand flies out. Brendan Ryan is next for the mariners and he flies out to end the 3^rd.

The 4^th starts with Brandon Moss at the plate and he grounds out. Josh Donaldson is next and hits a ground ball back to the pitcher and is thrown out. Daric Barton is up next and hits a home run to extend the Athletics lead. Derek Norris then strikes out to end the top of the inning. Michael Saunders starts the inning off for the Mariners and walks. With Kyle Seager up Michael Saunders is picked off at first. Kyle Seager then walks and takes first base. Kendrys Morales steps up to the plate and flies out. Michael Morse walks into the batter's box and flies out to end the inning.

Eric Sogard starts the 5^th for the Athletics and he lines out to short. John Jasso follows up by hitting a ground ball for out two. Seth Smith hits a double to start some trouble for Maurer. Jed Lowrie is the manto the plate and he hits a single to bring Seth Smith home. Yoenis Cespedes is next and flies out to end the top of the inning. Justin Smoak starts the bottom of the inning and walks. Raul Ibanez is next and he flies out. Dustin Ackly is next and hits a chopper back to the pitching mound and Kyle Seager gets thrown out for a fielder's choice. Kelly Shoppach is next and he hits a 2-run homer and narrows the lead to 3-2 Oakland. Brendan Ryan steps up next and strikes out to end the 5^th.

The start of the 6^th sees Charlie Furbush comes in to take over the pitching duties and face Brandon Moss who hits a home run. Josh Donaldson follows up by flying out. That bring up Daric Barton and he strikes out. Derek Norris steps into the box grounds out to end the top of the inning. Michael Saunders starts the bottom of the inning and he is thrown after he hit the ball trying to check his swing. Kyle Seager flies out as Cespedes goes over the wall to rob Seager of a sure double. Kendrys Morales is up next and he strikes out to end the 6^th.

Eric Sogard starts off the 7^th with a fly ball to Raul Ibanez for the first out. Back to the top of the order for John Jasso who strikes out. Seth Smith is next and he lines out to Brendan Ryan to end the top of the inning. Michael Morse is first in the Mariners half of the inning and he flies out. Justin Smoak steps up next and he hits a single hoping to start a rally. Raul Ibanez is next hits a single putting two on base. Sean Doolittle comes in to pitch to Dustin Ackly and gets a base hit. Justin Smoak scores bringing the Mariners within one run again. Endy Chavez goes in to pinch run for Raul Ibanez. With two on and one out Kelly Shoppach comes to the plate and he strikes out. Jason Bay comes in to pinch hit for Ryan and he grounds out to end the 7^th.

Robert Andino takes over at short stop while Endy Chavez takes over at left field. Yoervis Medina takes over the pitching dutis. Jed Lowrie starts the 8^th for Oakland and he strikes out. Yoenis Cespedes steps up to the plate and flies out. Lucas Luetge takes over the pitching duties as Brandon Moss comes to the plate and he Moss strikes out to end the top of the inning. Ryan Cook takes over at pitching for Oakland. Michael Saunders starts off the bottom of the inning and gets an infield single. Kyle Seager is up next and he strikes out. Kendrys Morales steps up to the plate where he hits a single and Michael Saunders goes to third. Michael Morse is the next Mariner up and he strikes out. With two on and two out Justin Smoak comes to the plate and walks to load the bases. Endy Chavez walks up for his first at bat and he strikes out to end the 8^th leaving the bases loaded.

Carter Capps takes over the pitching duties. Josh Donaldson leadsoff the 9^th for the Athletics and he is thrown out at second trying to stretch a single into a double. Daric Barton is up next and grounds out. Derek Norris follows with a strike out to end the top of the inning. Grant Balfour takes over the pitching duties for the Athletics. Dustin Ackly steps in to leadoff the 9^th for the Mariners and he strikes out. Kelly Shoppach is next and he work his way on with a walk.
