Hasashi Iwakuma takes game two in Toronto

After winning yesterday in Toronto the Seattle Mariners look to keep the winning streak alive. It is up to the Mariners number 2 pitcher Hasashi Iwakuma to keep the Blue Jays from running the bases. Standing in Iwakuma's way is a familiar face in former Mariner and last years Cy Young award winner R. A. Dickey. It promise to be another pitching duel as the strike throwing Iwakuma goes up against the knuckle ball pitcher.
The top of the first starts out with Michael Saunders getting a leadoff home run. Kyle Seager comes up next and hit a line drive for an out. Kendrys Morales steps up to the plate but hits a ground ball back to the pitcher for out 2. Michael Morse is up next and hits a ground ball to short to end the top of the first. The Blue Jays half of the inning starts out on a bad note as Iwakuma walks the first batter. That is followed up by single. Then Iwakuma gets the next batter to fly out. The fourth batter singles to load the bases. With the sacks full Iwakuma stays calm as he strikes out the next two batters to end the inning.
The 2nd inning starts as Raul Ibanez steps up to the plate and hits a ground ball for the first out. Kelly shoppach is next and he strikes out. Dustin Ackly follows him with another strike out to end the top of the inning. The bottom of the inning starts off just like the 1st with Iwkuma giving up a walk. Iwakuma gets the next batter to hit into a double play erasing the base runner. The next batter hits a ground ball to end the 2nd.
The 3rd goes fast as Endy Chavez starts off with a strike out. Robert Andino steps in to the batter's box and grounds out. Then it is back to the top of the line up for Michael Saunders and he flies out to end the top of the inning. In the bottom of the inning the first batter flies out. The next man up strikes out. Then two consecutive single have Iwakuma in hot water once again. The next batter flies out to end the 3rd.
The 4th starts out badly for the Mariners as Kyle Seager lines out. Then Kendrys Morales hits a single. Michael Morse steps up next and grounds out. With one on and two outs Raul Ibanez walks. Kelly Shoppach steps up and walks to load the bases. Dustin Ackly steps up to the plate and hits a grand slam to make it 5-0 Mariners. Endy Chavez is up next and lines out to end the top of the inning. In the bottom of the inning the first batter strikes out. The next batter hits a fly ball for out number 2. Then a strike out ends the 4th.
The 5th starts off with Robert Andino hitting a ground ball out. The Michael Saunders shows why he was the MVP for Canada during the world classic as he hits his second home run of the game. Kyle Seager pops up to second base for the second out. Kendrys Morales comes up next and strikes out to end the top of the inning. In the Blue Jays half of the inning the first batter is out on a fly ball. The next two batters ground out to make a quick inning for Iwakuma.
The 6th starts out with Michael Morse hitting a ground ball. Raul follows up with a triple. Kelly Shoppach comes up next and hits a double to make it a 7-0 game. Dustin Ackly strikes out for out number 2. Endy Chavez follows with a ground ball to end the top of the inning. The bottom half of the inning starts off with a ground ball for the first out. The next batter flew out. The next batter hit a ground ball to end the 6th.
The 7th starts with Robert Andino hitting grounding out. Michael Saunders follows him by hitting a ground ball for out two. Kyle Seager is up next and strikes out to end the top of the 7th. The bottom of the inning starts off bad for Iwakuma as he walks the first batter. The next batter hits a ground ball for the first out. The next batter hits a double putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. The next batter hits a sacrifice fly to give Toronto their first run of the game. The next batter flies out to end the 7th.
The 8th starts off with Kendrys Morales hitting a fly bll out. Michael Morse follows with a walk. Raul Ibanez strikes out for the second out. Kelly Shoppach comes up next and flies out to end the top of inning. Yoervis Mendina takes over the pitching and gets a quick ground ball out. He gets the next batter to pop up to the catcher. He then strikes out the next batter to end the 8th.
In top of the 9th Dustin Ackly starts off by flying out. Endy Chvez flies out for out two. Robert Andino is next and gets a single. Then it is Michael Saunders turn again and he hits a double for his third RBI. Kyle Seager follows with a fly ball to end the top of the inning. Oliver Perez takes over the pitching and walks the first batter of the inning. The next man gets a single. With runners at 1st and 3rd with no outs the next two batters ground out. The next batter up hits a line drive right to Dustin Ackly to end the game.
The Seattle Mariners win the game 8-1 and take the series as they winning the first two of three. Tomorrow they have a chance for a sweep in Toronto.
