The Mariners start off their homestand with a win

Tonight the Seattle Mariners sent Hasashi Iwakuma to the mound for the first of three games against the Oakland Athletics. Iwakuma has shone that is a good number two pitcher so hopes are high that he will give them their second win in a row. The Athletics counter by send Daniel Straily to the mound hoping to avoid their fifth lose in a row.

The 1^st inning starts as former Mariner John Jasso steps up to the plate and he hits a single. Seth Smith is next for the Athletics and he flies out. Jed Lowrie follows with a ground ball for out number two. Yoenis Cespedes is next as he strikes out to end the top of the inning. In the bottom of the inning Michael Saunders leadsoff and flies out.Kyle Seager is up next and works his way on with a walk. Kendrys Morales follows him with a single. Michael Morse is next and brings Kyle Seager home with a single. Justin Smoak steps in the box and brings Kendrys Morales in with a double. Raul Ibanez follows with a ground ball for the second out. Jesus Montero steps up to the plate and strikes out to end the 1^st. The Mariners send 7 men to the plate to take an early lead at 2-0.

The 2^nd inning starts with Brandon Moss stepping up and hitting a line drive to Justin Smoak for the first out. Josh Donaldson is next and he flies out. Daric Barton steps up to the plate and flies out to end the top of the inning. In the Mariners half of the inning Dustin Ackly starts off by striking out. Brendan Ryan is the next batter and he flies out. Back to the top of the order for Michael Saunders and he strikes out to end the 2^nd.

The 3^rd inning starts with Derek Norris at the plate where he strikes out. Then it is Eric Sogard and he hits a fly ball for out two. Back to the top of the order for John Jasso and he strikes out to end the top of the inning. In the bottom of the inning Kyle Seager starts off with a single. Kendrys Morales flies out. Michael Morse strikes out as Kyle Seager steals second. Justin Smoak is next and walks. With two on and two out Raul Ibanez steps up to the plate and hits a 3-run homer. Jesus Motero grounds out but not before Raul gives the Mariners a 5-0 lead.

The top of the 4^th sees Seth Smith uyp for his second at bat and he grounds out. Jed Lowrie is up next and grounds out. Yoenis Cespedes follows him by flying out to end the top of the inning. In the Mariners half of inning Dustin Ackly is up first and grounds out. Brendan Ryan follows him by grounding out. The line up turns over again as Michael Saunders steps up for the third time and grounds out to end the 4^th.

Brandon Moss leadsoff the 5^th for Oakland and he grounds out. Josh Donaldson follows him with a strike out. Daric Barton is next and he strikes out to end the top of the inning. Kyle Seager once again leadsoff and walks. Kendrys Morales follows up with a double to bring Kyle Seager home. Michael Morse is next and grounds out. Justin Smoak follows by flying out. Raul Ibanez steps up next and flies out to end the 5^th. The Mariners increase their lead to 6-0.

The top of the 8^th starts off with Oliver Perez taking over the pitching duties and Endy Chavez going into the outfield for Raul Ibanez. Tom Wilhelmsen comes in to try for his 10^th save. Jed Lowrie starts off with a ground ball tao Dustin Ackly. Yoenis Cespedes steps in next and hits a ground ball to Dustin Ackly.
