The Mariners can't hold on as the Yankees win

Sunday the Seattle Mariners left the confines of Safeco field after beating the Oakland Athletics. The had Monday off as they traveled to New York. Today, they hope that after they day off they can continue their winning ways against the Yankees. With Felix Hernandez taking the mound the chances are good that they will get their win. The Yankees counter with C. C. Sabathia.
The 1st inning starts off with Michael Saunders stepping up to the plate and he grounds out. Jason Bay steps up next and becomes the first strike out victim of the game. Kyle Seager is next an strikes out to end the top of the inning. Brett Gardner leadsoff for the Yankees in their half of the inning and he get a single. Gardner steal second base. Robinson Cano is up next and he works his way on with a walk. Vernon Wells steps up and flies out for the first out. Curtis Granderson makes his way into the batter's box and he hits into a double play to end the 1st.
The 2nd inning starts with Kendrys Morales at the plate and he grounds out. Michael Morse is second up and he hits a stand-up double. Next up for the Mariners Kelly Shoppach is next and flies out. Raul Ibanez is next and gets an infield single. Robert Andino enters the batter's box and he strikes out to end the top of the inning. Lyle Overbay starts of the Yankees half of the inning and he strikes out. Next up is Jayson Nix and he grounds out. Next is former Mariner Ichiro Suzuki and he strikes out to end the 2nd.
Brendan Ryan starts of the 3rd and flies out. Back to the top of the order for Michael Saunders an-d he gets on via an error on Lyle Overbay. Jason Bay steps up and flies out for the second out. Kyle Seager is next and brings Michael Saunders home on a double. Kendrys Morales steps up and grounds out to end the top of the inning. Chris Nelson starts off the bottom of the inning who strikes out on a pitch that goes wild and is able to reach first base. He then takes second on a throwing error. Austin Romine is next and grounds out. Brett Gardner is next and strikes out. Robison Cano follows by striking out to end the 3rd.
Michael Morse starts of the 4th with a single to left field. Kelly Shoppach is next and pops out to second. Raul Ibanez steps up next and strikes out. Robert Andino is next and hits a single. With two on and two out Brendan Ryan gets an infield hit to load the bases. Michael Saunders steps in with the bases juiced and strikes out to end the top of the inning. Vernon Wells starts the bottom of the inning with a single. Curtis Granderson is next and he strikes out. Lyle Overbay is the next to enter the batter's box and he grounds out but is safe at first on an inference call on the pitcher. With two on Jayson Nix steps in and strikes out. Ichiro Suzuki steps into the box where he ends the inning with a strike out.
Jason Bay leadsoff the 5th for the Mariners where he becomes a strike out victim. Kyle Seager is next and he strikes out. With two outs Kendrys Morales hits a double. Michael Morse steps in next where he flies out to end the top of the inning. Chris Nelson leadsoff the Yankees half of the inning and he gets a single. Austin Romine is next up to the plate where he grounds into a double play. Back to the top of the order for Brett Gardner and he grounds out to end the 5th.
Kelly Shoppach starts the 6th of for the Mariners and hits a single on the first pitch. Raul Ibanez steps up next and he hits a 2-run homer. Robert Andino is up next and he works his way on with a walk. Brendan Ryan steps in where he strikes out. Back to the top of the order for Michael Saunders who strikes out. That brings up Jason Bay who strikes out to ent the top of the inning. Robinson Cano is first up in the Yankees half of the inning and gets a single. Vernon Wells is up next pops up to Brendan Ryan. Curtis Granderson follows with a chopper right back to the mound for a fielder's choice. Lyle Overbay steps up next and he brings Cano home with a double. Jayson Nix follows him with a walk. Ichiro Suzuki steps up to the plate where he flies out to end the 6th.
Kyle Seager starts the 7th for the Mariners and grounds out. Kendrys Morales is next where he works his way on with a walk. Michael Morse follows him with single that moves Morales over to third. The Yankees bring in pitcher Shawn Kelly to face Kelly Shoppach. Shoppach strikes out. With two out and two on Raul Ibanez steps in and flies out to end the top of the inning. Yoervis Medina takes over the pitching duties for the Mariners. Chris Nelson starts the inning of for the Yankees with a single. Chris Nelson steals second. Austin Romine is next where he strikes out. Charlie Furbush comes in to pitch. Brett Gardner steps into the batter's box where he works his way on with a walk. Robinson Cano steps in next and he ties the game with a 2-run double. They intentionally walk Vernon Wells to get Curtis Granderson. Granderson walks to load the bases with one out. Lyle Overbay comes up next with the sacks full of Yankees and hits a sacrifice fly to give the pinstripes their first lead. The Mariners bring Carter Capps in to take over the pitching duties. Jayson Nix is the next batter to step up to the plate and strikes out to finally end the 7th.
David Robertson takes over the pitching duties for the Yankees. Dustin Ackly sees his first at bat as he takes over from Robert Andino and he walks. Brendan Ryan is next up and he is safe on a sacrifice bunt. Michael Saunders strikes out. With two on and one out Justin Smoak comes out to pinch hit for Jason Bay and he hits into a double play to end the top of the inning. Ichiro Suzuki leadsoff the bottom of the inning and he grounds out. Chris Nelson is next and strikes out. Austin Romine steps up to the plate where he strikes out to end the 8th.
With a one run lead the Yankees send their closer Mariano Rivera. Kyle Seager steps in to start things off and he flies out. Kendrys Morales is up next and he flies out. Michael Morse is the hope for the Mariners and he strikes out to end the game.
