The Seattle Mariners win their home opener

The Seattle Mariners opened the season with a stellar opening series in Los Angeles that saw the them sweep a three game series against the Angels. Then they went on to Oakland where things went a little strange as weather conditions and some bad calls saw the Mariners only win 1-out-of-3 games and one cancellation. Now, the Mariners return to Safeco field to play their home opener that will see rookie pitcher James Paxton take to the mound for his second start.

The 1^st inning starts as Kole Calhound steps into the batter's box for the Angels where he grounds out to Brad Miller who throws him out. Next up is Mike Trout who hits a single. That brings up Albert Pujols who hits a 2-run homer. David Freese is the next man to the plate and he hits a homerun to give the Angels an early 3-0 lead. Josh Hamilton steps up and hits a fly ball to Dustin Ackley for out two. Howie Kendrick is up next and hits a fly ball to Stephen Romero to end the top of the inning. Abraham Almonte gets set to start the bottom of the inning and he strikes out. Next up is Brad Miller who walks to give the Mariners their first base runner of the game. That brings up Robinson Cano who hits into double play to end the 1^st.
