Felix Hernandez shows that he is still the king

Last night Felix Hernandez took to the mound for his seventh time on opening day. The game started out on the negative side for Mr. Hernandez but with his usual great command and a late surge he once once again showed why he is the king. After Mr. Hernandez left the game the bullpen came in and with a stellar performance game Felix the win to boost the team record to 7 wins out of the 7 opening days with Felix on the mound.
Before the game started the Los Angeles Angels experienced a bad omen when coach Don Baylor broke his leg when catching the ceremonial first pitch. Once Mr. Baylor was carried off of the field pitcher Jerod Weaver took to the mound where he was able to retire the Seattle Mariners in order despite giving up a leadoff single to rookie outfielder Abram Almonte. In the bottom of the 1st things were looking up for the Angels when Felix Hernandez gave up a leadoff single to Kole Calhoun and a 2-run homer to Mike Trout.
The Seattle Mariners threatened to tie up the game when Justin Smoak belted out a double. Then with one out a fielding error allow Justin Smoak to take third and put Kyle Seager on first. Michael Saunders followed up with a sacrifice fly to put the Mariners on the board. Dustin Ackley flew out to Mike Trout to end the rally. In the bottom of the 2nd Felix Hernandez was able to get the Angels out in order.
In the top of the 3rd inning Mr. Weaver quickly got the Mariners out in order. In the bottom of the 3rd the Angles increased their lead when Erick Aybar started off the inning and reached based when Kyle Seager committed an error. With two outs Albert Pujols knocked out a double for an RBI.
The game remained 3-1 Angels until the 6th inning when with two outs Mr. Weaver walked Justin Smoak. He then walked Logan Morrison putting Mr. Smoak on second. Kyle Seager then smacked a double to bring in Justin Smoak to tie the game at 3-2. In the bottom of the inning Felix Hernandez keep the Angels from taking the lead again when he stranded Josh Hamilton at first by getting the next three batters out.
In the top of the 7th, with one out, Dustin Ackley hit a single. Mike Zunino followed him with a triple to bring Ackley home. Abraham Almonte blasted out a double to bring Zunino in for the Mariners first lead to put Felix Hernandez in line to get the win. In the bottom of the 7th the bullpen took over to shut the angles down.
The Seattle Mariners weren't done with their scoring when in the top of the 9th inning Justin Smoak blasted a 3-run homer. Later in that same inning Dustin Ackley hit a bases clearing triple. In the bottom of the inning the Mariners bullpen once again made quick work of the Angels to give the Mariners a 10-3 win.
