In the opening series of the 2014 the
Seattle Mariners have taken the first two games against the Angels.
Tonight they go for the sweep of the series. As the third game of the
opening series starts Hector Santiago takes the mound for the Los
Angeles of Anaheim Angels. Abraham Almonte is the first man to step
up to the plate and he walks. Brad Miller comes up to the plate where
he strikes out. That brings up Robinson Cano and he walks to give the
Mariners tow base runners. Justin Smoak is up next and he strikes
out. Corey Hart steps into the batter's box where he flies out to
Kole Calhoun to end the top of the inning. James Paxton takes the
pitching mound for the Seattle Mariners. Kole Calhoun steps to the
plate to start the Angels half of the inning and he hits a double.
Mike Trout is the second man to the plate where he walks. That brings
up Albert Pujols who hits a ground ball to Willie Bloomquist whe
starts a double play. David Freese is the next man up and he flies
out to end the 1st.
Stephen Romero starts the 2nd
with a fly out to Howie Kendrick. Dustin Ackley is up next and he
grounds out to Howie Kendrick. That brings up Mike Zunino who strikes
out to end the top of the inning. Josh Hamilton starts the bottom of
the inning where he strikes out. Howie Kendrick steps in next and he
grounds out to Brad Miller. That brings up ex-Mariner Raul Ibanez who
strikes out to end the 2nd.
Willie Bloomquist will start off the
3rd inning for the Mariners and he flies out to Mike
Trout. Back to the top of the order for Abraham Almonte and he
grounds out to David Freese. Brad Miller steps in the box and gets a
double. That brings up Robinson Cano who brings in Brad Miller with a
single to give the Mariners first blood. Justin Smoak steps into the
batter's box and he flies out to end the top of the inning. Chris
Ianetta will step up to the plate and then grounds out to Willie
Bloomquist. Erick Aybar is next and he grounds out to Bloomquist.
Then back to the top of the order for Kole Calhoun and he flies out
to end the 3rd.
Corey Hart steps up to start the 4th
with a strike out. Stephen Romero is up for his second time and gets
his first career hit. Dustin Ackley is up next and he hits into a
double play to end the top of the inning. Mike Trout steps up to
start the bottom half of the inning where he doubles. That brings up
Albert Pujols who strikes out. David Freese is the man to the plate
and he walks. With two on and on out Josh Hamilton comes up and he
strikes out. Howie Kendrick is the next hitter and he strikes out to
end the 4th.
Mike Zunino starts the 5th
for the Mariners with a single. Willie Bloomquist steps up to the
plate where he walks. Then it is back to the top of the order for
Abraham Almonte who hits into a double play. With one on and two out
Brad Miller who brings Willie Bloomquist home with a single. Brad
Miller take second on the throw to the plate. That brings up Robinson
Cano who grounds out to David Freese to end the top of the inning.
Raul Ibanez is the first man up in the home half of the 5th
and he strikes out. Chris Ianetta is the next man up and he strikes
out. With two outs Erick Aybar steps up to the plate and strikes out
to end the 5th.
Justin Smoak gets set to leadoff the
6th where he hits a single to left field. Corey Hart is
the next man to the plate and he gets a single to left field.
Fernando Salas takes over the pitching duties for the Angels. Stephen
Romero steps to the plate and he gets his first RBI as he bring in
Smoak with a single. Dustin Ackley steps up and quickly grounds out.
Mike Zunino steps in and hits a 3-run jack. That brings up Willie
Bloomquist who strikes out. Back to the top of the order for Abraham
Almonte who walks. Brad Miller steps up to the dish and he strikes
out to end the top of the inning. Kole Calhoun starts the bottom of
the inning and he grounds out to Justin Smoak. Mike Trout is the next
men to the plate where he flies out to Michael Saunders, who replaced
Stephen Romero. That brings up Albert Pujols who flies out to Dustin
Ackley to end the 6th.
Robinson Cano gets set to start the 7th
for the Mariners as he gets a single. That brings up Justin Smoak who
strikes out. Corey Hart follows with a fly ball to Mike Trout.
Michael Saunders steps in for his first at bat of the game and he
pops out to Erick Aybar to end the top of the inning. David Freese
will start the bottom of the inning and he grounds out to Brad
Miller. Josh Hamilton is up next as he strikes out. That brings up
Howie Kendrick who hits thew ball back to the pitch to end the 7th.
Joe Smith takes over the pitching for
the Angels. Dustin Ackley leadsoff the 8th with a fly ball
to Josh Hamilton. That brings up Mike Zunino who grounds out to the
pitcher Joe Smith. Willie Bloomquist gets his first hit of the
season. Back to the top of the order for Abraham Almonte who strikes
out to end the top of the inning. Joe Beimel takes over the pitching
for the Mariners. Raul Ibanez starts off the home half the inning
where he grounds out to Willie Bloomquist. Chris Ianetta is the next
man up and he flies out to Michael Saunders. Erick Aybar follows
with a ground ball to Joe Beimel who throws him out to end the 8th.
Ernesto Frieri takes over the pitching
for the Angels. Brad Miller leadsoff the 9th for Seattle
and he strikes out. That brings up Robinson Cano who flies out to
Mike Trout. Justin Smoak is the next man up as he hits a home run to
give Seattle a 7-0 lead. Corey Hart steps up to the plate and he hits
a home run. Michael Saunders follows with a fly ball to Josh
Hamilton to end the top of the inning. Hector Noesi takes over as the
Mariners new pitcher. Kole Calhoun starts off the bottom of the 9th
with a strike out but reaches first on a wild pitch. Mike Trout is
the next man up as he gets an RBI triple after the ball sticks in the
outfield padding. That brings up Albert Pujols who flies out to
Abraham Almonte. David Freese is the next man to the plate and he
bring Mike Trout home on a sacrifice fly. Josh Hamilton comes up to
the plate and he strike out to end the game.
The Seattle Mariners sweep the Angels
by scoring 26 runs in the three game series.
