Tonight was one of those games that
Seattle Mariners fan would just like to forget. The game showcased
everything that has gone wrong for the team in their previous loses.
There was the starting pitcher having a bad game and the lack of hits
to score runners.
Aaron Harang started out by giving up a
leadoff single to Peter Bourjos. That was followed by another single
and a sacrifice fly. Mr. Harang was able to get the next two batters
out to keep the score 1-0 Angels. The Mariners went in order in their
half of the 1st.
The 2nd started off well as
Aaron Harang was able to get the first batter to hit a ground ball
out. A single and a home run made it 3-0 Angels. Harang did manage to
get the next two batters out to end the inning. In the Mariners half
of the 2nd they again went in order.
The 3rd started bad as
Harang gave up a leadoff walk. A double play eliminated the runner.
With two outs and no one on it looked as though they inning had some
promise to go quick. It wasn't to be though as the next batter hit a
single. The with one runner on the next batter hit a 2-run homer to
give the Angels a 5-0 lead. The Mariners half of the 3rd
started out well with Robert Andino hitting a single. That would be
all we get as the next three batters went out.
Hector Noesi took over the pitching in
the 4th and was able to get the Angels out in order. The
Mariners half of the 4th started great as Kyle Seager and
Kendrys Morales both hit singles. With 2 runners on Michael Morse
works a walk to load the bases. Then with one out Kelly Shoppach
takes one for the team as he is hit by a pitch to force in a run.
That is all they get though as the next to batters strike out leaving
the bases loaded.
In the top of the 5th Hector
Noesi holds the Angels to one hit. The Mariners half of the 5th
once again sees the first two batters get on base as Brendan Ryan and
Jason Bay both get singles. With one out Kendrys Morales walks to
load the bases one more time. The next to batters go out to leave the
bases loaded. 5-1 Angels.
The top of the 6th goes fast
as Hector Noesi holds the Angels to a walk. The Mariners half of the
6th starts out with Kelly Shoppach hitting a single.
Robert Andino then follows with a double to give the Mariners their
second run. Endy Chavez hitting a sacrifice fly to move Andino to 3rd
base. Brendan Ryan lays down a sacrifice bunt to bring in Andino
making it a 5-3 game. That is all they get though as Jason Bay walks
right before Kyle Seager hits a fly ball for the third out.
The 7th inning starts out
bad with Peter Bourjos hitting a double and advancing to 3rd
base on a wild pitch. Mike Trout walks and then Albert Pujols hits a
sacrifice fly. With one out charlie Furbush comes in and strikes out
josh Hamilton. Yoervis Medina comes in with 2 outs and promptly get
an out to end the 7th. The Mariners half of the 7th
starts out on a bad note as Kendrys Morales and Michael Morse make
quick outs. It looks better when Justin Smoak hits a single. Kelly
Shoppach follows up with a single of his own to put runners at 1st
and 2nd. Dustin Ackly comes in for Robert Andino and gets
a single. Justin Smoak tries to score from 2nd and is
thrown out at home plate to end the inning.
The top of the 8th goes
quick as Medina holds the Angels to a double. The Mariners half of
the 8th once again starts out promising as Endy Chavez
hits a single. Brendan Ryan gets a walk to give us two runners on and
no outs. Jason Bay hits into a double play and Kyle Seager goes out.
In the top of the 9th Noesi
gets the Angels out in order. The Mariner half of the inning sees
Kendrys Morales reach on an error. One out later Justin Smoak walks
but that is all the Mariners get in the inning.
Seattle loses to the Angels 6-3 in the
second game of the series making it tied at 1 game each. Felix
Hernandez pitches tomorrow going for win 101.
