Google announces new smartwatches

Yesterday Google kicked off their annual I/O developers conference in San Francisco. One of the first hot new products to be announced where a pair of android-based smartwatches by Samsung and LG. The smartwatches will be available on Google play for pre-order to shipped early next month.
The Samsung Gear Live is the lower end and more budget friendly of the two smartwatches with a price tag of $199. The Gear Live is 37.9(1.49”)x56.4(2.2”)x8.9mm(0.35”) and weighs a mere 69grams. When you first look at the watch you will see that it features a 1.63” superAMOLED screen with 320x320 resolution and has a USB port. What you can't see is what is on the inside it features; the android wear operating system, a 1.2 GHz processor, 4GB of internal storage, 512 MB of RAM, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 300mAh battery that will give you a full days use. The Samsung Gear Live will ship on July 8. 2014.
The LG G will set you back more at $299. The G watch does offer a sleeker profile then the Samsung at 37.9(1.49”)x46.5(1.8”)x9.95(0.38”)mm and weighs 63 grams. The LG smartwatch also has a slightly larger screen at 1.65” superMOLED with a 280x280 resolution. The LG also has an external USB port, the 1.2GHz snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 4.0 and runs on the android wear OS. The LG comes with a 400mAh battery for a longer charge than its Samsung cousin. The LG G watch will start shipping on July 3, 2014.

Motorola will also be offering an android-based smartwatch. Unlike the Samsung Gear Live or the LG G, Motorola's Moto 360 will be round more like a typical wristwatch. Motorola hasn't said much about what their smartwatch will offer or cost. The Motorola Moto 360 will be released latter this summer but a final date has not been set.
