The Mariners take two in a row from the Rangers

Coming into this season James Paxton had been 5-0 in games pitched at Safeco Field. So far this year has not gone well for him as he lost the first game he pitched this year during the opening home stand. This got even worse on the road when he didn't last long in his second start. He looked to bounce back in third start during the recent homestand but he only lasted 2 2/3 innings after giving up 7 runs in the 3^rd inning.

The 1^st inning showed promise as James Paxton enticed Leonys Martin to hit a fly ball to Nelson Cruz for the first out. Elvis Andrus went quiet as he grounded out to Robinson Cano. Prince Fielder had an infield single when Robinson Cano's throw pulled Logan Morrison off the base. Adrian Beltre flew out to Austin Jackson to end the top of the inning. In the bottom of the 1^st Austin Jackson started with a homerun. Rickie Weeks followed with a fly ball to Leonys Martin for the first out. Robinson Cano followed with a ground out. Then it was Nelson Cruz at the plate and he came through with his seventh homrun. Kyle Seager was up next and hit a ground ball to end the 1^st inning. 2-0 Mariners.

The 2^nd inning started with Shin Soo Choo flying out to Justin Ruggiano. Adam Rosales came to the plate and he grounded out to Willie Bloomquist. Rougned Odor was next and he was safe on an error by Kyle Seager. Jake Smolinski came to the plate and hit a single. Carlos Corpran was came up with two on struck out to end the top of the inning. In the Mariners halve of the inning Justin Ruggiano started out with a fly ball to Leonys Martin for the first out. Willie Bloomquist came up next and he flew out to Jake Smolinski. Logan Morrison stepped up and hit a single. Jesus Sucre came up next an popped out to Rougned Odor to end the 2^nd inning.

The 3^rd inning started off badly when Leonys Martin laid down a bunt for a single. Elvis Andrus came up next and he is safe on an error by Willie Bloomquist.
