5 songs written by mothers to their chilren

Many songwriters will chronicle the important events in their lives by putting them to music. Sometimes it is breath-taking sights like Africa by Toto or Rocky Mountain High by John Denver. Sometimes they write about relationships such as Taylor Sift is famous for writing about all of boyfriends, Billy Joel wrote about his relationship with Christie Brinkley and John Lennon wrote about his life with Yoko Ono. One of the biggest events in an artist life that they love to write about is their children one of the most famous being Isn't she lovely by Stevie Wonder when his daughter was born. The following is a list of songs that mothers have written to their children:
Joan Baez is known for her many activist songs in the 1960's until present day. In 1971 when her son Gabriel was two she wrote the song A young Gypsy that talks about taking him to his grandmother's house for an Easter celebration. In 1996 Madonna gave birth to her daughter Lourdes. That same year she released the album Ray of light where she sings the Little Star that immortalizes the joy little Lourdes brought into her life. In her 2014 self titled album Shakira the singer/songwriter tells about how she was lost until giving birth to her son Milan Pique Mebarak. Her lines I was living without a purpose and You turn the darkness into sunlight tell how healing the miracle of childbirth can be in a woman's life.
