Last week Felix Hernandez had the worst
game of his career when he gave up 4 homerun. Yesterday's game
started out look as though it might be just as bad when he gave up an
early homerun to Adam Dunn. He managed to settle down after that and
went on to have a game more like the ones we are accustom to seeing
from the man we call the king. He ended up pitching 8 innings and
only giving up 3-hits including that one homerun.
In the top of the 7th inning
Kyle Seager and Corey Hart repaid Felix's hard work by hitting
back-to-back homeruns to give the Seattle Mariners a 2-1 lead. The 2
runs were all that Seattle needed when Fernaando Rodney came in to
relieve Felix in the 9th inning and quickly mowed down the
Athletics to pick up his 41st save of the season.
"It
means a lot," Hernandez said. "We came here to win the
series, and that's what we did. Going against Lester, I knew it was
going to be tough. I just had to make good pitches."
