The Mariners' home stand ends in a bang

The Seattle Mariners didn't have much to cheer about on their last home stand that ended with a 2-4 record. The offense was almost none existent, the usually flawless fielding seemed full of holes and even the king showed some chinks in his game. When Felix Hernandez pitch the Friday the usual noisy king's court hardly mad a sound.
In the final game of the home stand it look as though it was going to be more disappointment as Hisashi Iwakuma gave up 3 early runs. After giving up the runs he settled down into the pitcher we are use to seeing on the mound. Then there was finally something to cheer about when left fielder Dustin Ackley's bat roared and he drove in 4 runs including a 3-run homer. Our bullpen came in and showed they deserve the title the best bullpen in the American league. The Mariners managed to add an insurance run late in the game and Fernando Rodney came in to get the save.

This afternoon the Mariners kick off a 7-game road trip as they face the Oakland Athletics for a 3-game series that could put them in contention for the first wild card. Currently the Seattle Mariners are in a tight race with the Detroit Tigers for the second wild card.
